Notice

Athletes may not represent their school unless the school is affiliated with the NLAA.

Affiliation Fees

Throughout the School Year, the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA) hosts and sanctions cross-country, track and field and road running events organized exclusively for schools and school grades are used to determine the age categories. To compete at these events, Schools/Students participant must be registered with the NLAA.

Fees

School:
During the School Year, schools may join the NLAA as associate clubs for $30.00. At this point, school athletes may compete in NLAA-sanctioned events, which are organized exclusively for schools, and School Grades are used to determine the age categories. All school students will be eligible to participate in NLAA School Events. Schools are also eligible for any team awards.

Individual:
Students from not affiliated schools must purchase a Day Permit in addition to any event fees. The One Day Permit Fee for Primary and Secondary School Athletes during the school year is $1.00 (affects not affiliated schools). To be eligible for the reduced fee, a student must participate in events that are organized exclusively for schools and school grades are used to determine the age categories.

Competing at regular NLAA-sanctioned events would require an individual athlete to upgrade to a full NLAA membership or pay a Day Permit of $5.00

By completing this application for School Affiliation in the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association (NLAA) for the school year of 2023/2024, we agree to respect the constitution, rules, and bylaws of the NLAA and Athletics Canada.

Membership Benefits

Membership/Affiliation in the NLAA allows an athlete to compete in our sanctioned events. Every sport organization pays insurance as a corporate body on behalf of event organizers and athletes in case of legal liability or mishaps. Sanction fees and membership fees help to cover these costs and ensure that people will be willing to volunteer their time.

There are opportunities to benefit from courses and clinics -- as an athlete, official, or coach. The NLAA also supervises events to ensure that rules are followed and criteria maintained on an even basis throughout the province as possible. The NLAA also supervises Provincial Events and Road Running, Track and Field, and Cross-Country Championships.
